Op dien grond, dat hij nl. wettig candidaat wasis liij dan
ook alhier als predikant bij de Engelsche gemeente beroepen,
en als zoodanig is hij ook bevestigd. Wie tocli had kunnen ver
moeden, dat Worsle y die overigens alle vereischte bekwaam
heden tot het predikambt bezatzou zeer door de inblazingen
des duivels zou kunnen worden vervoerd, om op zulk eene
snoode wijze eene gansche gemeente te beroeren. Intusschen
heeft, hij nimmer voldoende bewijzen kunnen bijbrengen voor
de wettigheid van zijn predikambt. De overgelegde attesten en
verklaringen zijn of niets zeggend of wel uagemaakt en dus
valsch. Daarenboven is gebleken, dat alle informatiën, hetzij
door den kerkeraad of door bijzondere personen ten opzichte
van Wousley in Engeland genomen, meer strekten om hem
te bezwaren dan wel om hem te ontlasten. Alles te zamen
genomen meent het collegium qualification l) meer dan vol
doende redenen te hebben omna de grootste lijdzaamheid en
omzichtigheid betracht te hebben, bovengenoemd vonnis over
het hoofd van Worsley uit te spreken.
Yoorts acht het collegium qualificatum het raadzaam de
doopsbedieniugenhuwelijksvoltrekkingen, bevestiging van ker-
keraadsleden als anderszins, door Worsley verricht, te sanctio-
neeren, voor zoover zij geschied zijn van wege den kerkeraad. 2)
Zeer waardeerend laat zich dit college uit over het classicaal prfeadvies.
Het wordt genoemd „wise aud inlighteuiug"„iu which the matter is produced
as clear as noonday, and wherein all declarations, letters or presumptions for and
against G. H. Worsley are pleaded and resolved with such a brotherly love
and impartial attentiou, and the affair therein is set forth in so full a daylight,
that after an attentive examination of the same the least hesitation cannot remain
hut iu the fear of the Lord to make up the resolution and conclusion in this

a) „Further the qualifyd college reject the request of G. H. Worsley, con
taining the giving hack of all pieces, letters aud papers formerly given over by
him to the consistory, but command, thai all those pieces, letters and papers shall
be preserved in perpetual remembrance by the consistoryand that only a copy
of this sentence shall be sent to G. II. Worsley. The qualified college recom
mend also to the consistory to request in proper time an haudopening by the
