Note to TWICE BORN: The oldest living thing in Cyprus is the tropical fig
tree, ficus sycamorus (known in Turkish as cümbezin front of St. Nicolas
cathedral, Famagusta. It was planted when the cathedral was built in
approximately 1220 AD.
