Besluit
Hoewel veel bereikt is, is er nog veel nader vast te stellen over de opgeviste dier
soorten van de familie Schot op de ZZ 8. Als het verzamelen op de Schelde-
bodem van fossielen even enthousiast doorgaat in de komende veertig jaar als in
de afgelopen veertig jaar, hoeveel aanwinsten zullen wij dan nog boeken? Ik heb
een Nederlands overzicht van onze kennis gegeven bij het 25-jarig bestaan van
Kor en Bot (Hooijcr, 1979) en de nieuwe aanwinst de neushoorn van Jean Viret
gemeld bij het 30-jarig bestaan (Hooijer, 1981), ook in onze landstaal in de
Zierikzeesche Nieuwsbode (Hooijer, '1981 bis).
Zolang onze cultuur blijft bestaan zal men doorgaan met het verrijken van onze
kennis omtrent de uitgestorven dierenwereld, dat alleen mogelijk is met de mede
werking van mensen als B. W. Schot, J. Schot BWzn en W. C. Schot BWzn en hun
nageslacht, die cle niet zo eenvoudig te bereiken Zeeuwse botten op de
Scheldebodem beschikbaar hebben laten komen. Wij zullen hen daar altijd dank
baar voor blijven.
